Bones from the shoulders of oxen, deer, pigs or sheep are used in an ancient Chinese divination, known as ‘bone readings’ to predict the future. anyone with a question requiring a yes or no answer can approach the bone psychic for an answer.
The bones would be heated up until they crack, the pattern of the cracks is then analysed using secret methods by the bone reader.
KIngs would consult bone diviners and asked questions on just about everything. The first bone oracle discovered by modern researchers digging fields, date as far back as 11th and 12th century. Bone oracles eventually died out and were replaced by the I Ching - the Book of Changes.
