7 The Army

Below: K’an - Pit, Water

Shih shows how with firmness and correctness a wise leader will bring good fortune and no errors. Looking after and educating soldiers is the best way for emergency use.

Moving lines;

Six at the bottom means:
A disciplined army will grant success, an undisciplined one, evil.

Nine in the second position means:
The leader is in the middle of the army.
No error.

Six in the third position means:
The army may lack leaders.
Evil.

Six in fourth position means:
The army retreats without error.

Six in the fifth position means:
In a field are birds, advantaging to seize and destroy.
The oldest son leading the army, while younger men are in office it results in evil.

Six at the top means:
Rewarded are the supporters of the great leader.
Inferior men should not be given leadership positions.
